International Cooking Classes: Please join us on the third Friday of each month to learn about and sample
cooking from various countries around the world. HIWC members are our chefs each month. The 2008-09
calendar included cooking from India, Sweden, Mexico, China, Australia and Italy. Classes are typically held at
a member's home and therefore we must limit attendance to max. 10 members, so sign up early!

Volunteer - Children's Home Visit: In 1948, based on the Child Welfare Law, this home was officially
recognized as an institution for maltreated children and named Hiroshima Shudoin. About 120 children from
birth to age 18 live here. HIWC volunteer members visit the home twice a month to play with and enjoy visiting
the toddlers. It is a truly rewarding experience. Please wear appropriate clothing for playing outdoors. In
case of rain, we play indoors. Coordinators will provide transportation to the children's home. Member's
children are also welcome.
