Japanese Membership Guidelines for the 2007 - 2008 Club Year

I. Japanese Membership

1. The annual membership fee is 10,000 yen, payable to the HIWC by the October
deadline.
2. Japanese members are required to attend at least 3 GMs.
3. Japanese members should contribute to the management of the club in the year
when the group they belong to is on duty
4. Japanese members, who cannot fulfill any of the above requirements, must consult
with the Board.
5. Japanese members may take a leave of absence because of their health problem or
for their personal reasons. They must inform their intention to that effect to the
Membership Committee before the October GM.

II. Leave of Absence Membership

1. The annual due for members on Leave of Absence is 5,000 yen.
2. Members on Leave of Absence should be removed from the mailing list of HIWC.
3. Members on Leave of Absence have no obligation to attend GMs, but may attend up
to 2 GMs and 2 outings a year. Each member on Leave of Absence must pay 2,000
yen per GM.
4. When their circumstances have improved, members on Leave of Absence, upon
their request, can be readmitted to HIWC as a formal member at the Board’s discretion,
5. Extending a Leave of Absence Membership beyond two years must be consulted
with the Board

III. Japanese Members Rejoining After an Absence

Japanese Members who have left the club because of unavoidable circumstances,
upon their request, may be readmitted to HIWC as a formal member or put on the
waiting list at the Board’s discretion.

IV. Japanese people on the Waiting List

1. Requirements to become a formal member
  a. Any applicant(s) must see and talk with the Board before being admitted to HIWC.
  b. Any qualifying member(s) must have an access to PC mail.
2. Attendance to club activities
  a. Any person(s) on the waiting list may attend up to 4 GMs and 4 outings a year.
  b. Each GM attendance fee is 2,000yen.
  a. Any person(s) on the waiting list may not be added on the mailing list of HIWC.

V. Guests

1. Guests can attend GMs if space is available. Each guest is eligible to attend up to 2
GMs and 2 outings a year.
2. Each guest must pay 1,000yen per GM.
3. Japanese guests accompanied by foreign members are requested to register with
the Japanese Reception upon arrival at any GM.
4. Foreign guests accompanied by Japanese members are requested to register with
the Foreign Reception upon arrival at any GM.
