Violets: Violets are a group of Japanese HIWC members that write articles of special interest about Japanese customs and lifestyle. For many years they have been supporting our club with practical information and advice in topics covering cultural and practical aspects of life in Hiroshima. Many of their articles are published in the Dayori Newsletter and also in the booklet Funny Pockets. Recently they have established a monthly meeting to support the Dayori further and would like to invite other members to join them. Cost: Free.
Japanese for fun Japanese for Fun would love to help members from other countries live more easily and enjoyably in Hiroshima. We are happy to teach basic Japanese language. Besides the language study in the classroom, we will go on a field trip to practice Japanese at times. Let's try Survival Japanese, for example, how to shop, how to travel around town and use the bus, the streetcar, how to instruct the taxi driver, etc. If you are interested in our club, why don't you join us? Bible Club: The Bible Club is open to people of all backgrounds, both Christian, and non Christian. Our group hopes to facilitate a deeper understanding of the Bible through a non denominational, scripture-based study. This year we will study the book of John this year. The club meets twice a month, usually on Mondays. The location varies. Social time starts at 10.00am and the official meeting starts at 10.30. The meeting ends at noon. Drinks and snacks are served.
